While local APL user groups often hold meetups, the APL community sometimes organizes conferences which draw attendance from a wider region. Until about 2005 the APL conference was the main yearly gathering, but other large conferences were held irregularly by vendors.
The APL community and various user groups offer plenty of scheduled events and activities for both hobbyists and professionals, besides for continuously active chat rooms and forums.
